Ducks Fly Together into Championship Game

It proved to be another dominant night for the veteran Ducks, who once again made their presence known against the Tritons, winning last night 14-7. The Ducks drew first blood by a back-to-back, defense to offense play from Phil Berolzheimer, who stole the ball out of his cage and quickly scored one of two in a backcourt counter goal going the other way. The Ducks coach Dragan Bakic with 5 goals on the night was not going to be shown up as he drew second blood on the Tritons with a pretty lob from the outside.  It seemed as though Thomas Dietrich wasn’t going to let their streak last long as he put up his name on the board with a nice goal from the outside.

"Being a playoff game, we came out strong and serious knowing that regular season record doesn't matter any more. All the boys played very well, while Charlie Hamilton with blocks and Kurt Kautz with goals had an awesome game." –Coach Bakic. Kurt Kautz a very impressive night with 5 goals to himself. Mike Haley and Jacob Castro added a goal for the Ducks as well. Charlie Hamilton made his presence known with 11 blocks in the cage.

The Tritons fought hard with the help of Michael Kemether and Joey Rossi, both scoring 2 goals. Joe Dietrich also had a goal, as Matt Huiras had 9 blocks in the cage.

Seahawks Retain #2 Spot in the League with a Close 3 Quarters
The Vikings and Seahawks faced each other in yet another highly competitive game on Wednesday night. The Vikings were hungry for a win with many of the past games coming within only a few goals, but the Seahawks proved that their experience won out over the young Vikings’ team.  Jake Hastie started off the night with his first of 4 goals for the Seahawks with Tim Urrea shortly following with 2 goals including a power play goal to put the Seahawks ahead 3-0.  Andrew Vieira of the Vikings scored their first goal in response to a Seahawks exclusion with captain Shane Mahoney quickly following to bring the score to 3-2. Christian Foss scored the first of his 3 goals on the night by converting a power play successfully. Captain Mike Heberle scored the first of 2 goals on the night just before his teammate Andrew Reego scored his first of 3 goals for the night. Vikings’ Nate Varosh closed the end of the first quarter with his first of 4 goals on the night to bring the Vikings within a single goal differential.
The second quarter proved to be low-scoring compared to the other 3 for the Vikings and Seahawks. Jake Hastie opened up with a goal scored in the first 30 seconds of the quarter. Nate Varosh scored his second goal of the game just before Jason Wensley responded with his first of 3 goals on the night to finish off the quarter with the Seahawks leading 7-5.
Power plays proved to be a true competitive advantage for the Seahawks and the Vikings in the 3rd quarter.  Seahawks’ Kevin Schuh started off the third shortly before Christian Foss of the Vikings scored a goal. The Vikings pulled within 1 goal after Foss scored a power play goal.  The Seahawks’ Tim Urrea responded with a quick goal just before his teammate Jake Hastie scored another power play goal. Cole Mahoney of the Vikings put his first goal of 2 for the game. His brother and captain Shane Mahoney put a goal away to bring the Vikings within 1 goal once again just before Mike Heberle scored his second goal of the night.  The final goal of the 3rd quarter was completed by Nate Varosh to ensure that the Vikings were once again within a 1 goal reach of the win.
In the 4th quarter, the Seahawks had no mercy.  Tim Urrea started off the 6 goal streak with the help of 2 goals from Andrew Reego and Jason Wensley as well as a goal from Jake Hastie.  The Vikings rallied with 2 back to back goals from Cole Mahoney and Nate Varosh to finish off the game with a 17-12 final score.  Steve Barrington finished off the night with 11 goalie blocks while Garrett Richey completed 8 blocks on the night.
